Des de Moor The Empire Strikes Back 4/12/18
As the year draws to the close and the nights turn dark at 4, we think of firesides, good friends and those beers that envelope you with their warm boozy hugs, stouts & porters!
Originally simply a very strong London porter that acquired its ‘Imperial’ designation thanks to its popularity in the Russian empire, strong stout was a near-extinct beer style before becoming the poster-child of the new wave of ‘extreme’ contemporary beers.
Your host beer writer and judge Des de Moor will be pouring 6 beers as a seasonal treat, considering what they tell us about the old fashion for brewing the same style in different strengths, and hopefully understanding that it’s not all about roast malt and alcohol.
Date: 4th Decmeber
Location: The BottleShop, 128 Druid Street, SE1 2HH
